Tree Listening Project

The Tree Listening Project

Free with Grounds admission

Have you ever wondered what happens behind the bark of a tree? The Tree Listening Project will be here at Waddesdon throughout September providing an experience for adults and children alike. Whilst listening to the headphones hanging from the tree’s branches you will hear two sounds:
1. A deep rumbling sound that is produced by the tree moving.
2. A quiet popping sound in the background that is produced by the water passing through the xylem tubes and mixing with air on its way up to the leaves.

Meeting point: Conservation Hub

Dates: Wed – Sun in September, 10am-5pm
