Celebrate nature with the UK’s leading land and nature-based artists this May half-term.

Art in Nature is a new and unique event that brings together leading land and environmental artists from across the UK to create and showcase new works inspired by and created in the beautiful grounds at Waddesdon.

Waddesdon Manor (c) National Trust

Making the Waddesdon Mandala

From Saturday 24 May until Monday 26 May, land artist James Brunt and his team will create a huge spray-paint Mandala, kickstarting a festival celebrating art in nature. From the Parterre, you can watch the artwork come to life on the south front lawn below. The Mandala is created using diluted water-based pitch marker paint, and will be completed by Wednesday 28 May.

Art in Nature Festival

Throughout the event, a number of artists will be working on creations throughout the gardens and there is plenty for the whole family to get involved with.

From Thursday, you can join the artists along Barons Walk and create your own wonderful nature inspired artworks in the creative play space. Soak up nature with our bespoke soundscape, ‘Sounds of the Forest’.

Make sure to drop in at The Powerhouse to learn more about the artists, see more of their work and discover the joy of creativity outdoors in nature. The Powerhouse will be open 11am until 3pm daily (Wed-Sun) so head there to explore the mini exhibition, and watch short land art films, and pick up merchandise.

There are also a number of workshops, masterclasses and talks that are free to attend, taking place along Barons Walk. Art in Nature features work by James Brunt, Julia Brooklyn, Ana Castilho, Jon Foreman, Mark and Rebecca Ford, Richard Shilling and more.

On Saturday 31 May there will be an opportunity to take part in our festival finale artwork at the Conservation Hub and a special festival walk around on Sunday 1 June to learn about the inspiration behind each installation.
