A grand day out
See a real Edwardian motor tricycle. Did you know that the Edwardian era saw a huge surge in the number of people taking day trips and holidays thanks to workers receiving regular time off? Bicycles were popular but with the motor car becoming more common place, the open road beckoned. Step forward the Edwardian motor tricycle.
Herbs and flowers
June is the best time for gathering young, fresh plants needed for creating the natural creams, and cleaning materials that featured in the arts and crafts movement of the Edwardian era. Watch the distillation and infusion techniques that were used.
Natural Dyeing
Learn all about natural dyeing, use woad and other natural materials to produce Shibori work to take home. Have a go at impact flower dyeing, and produce an imprint of your chosen flower.
More activities to be announced…
To subsidise this day, schools may apply for a grant of up to £750 through the School Access Fund. This programme, set up jointly by Waddesdon and the Rothschild Foundation, aims to support the learning and well-being of students, as well as encourage new school audiences to experience Waddesdon and to take part in the Learning Department’s workshops and projects.
