My dear Miss Alice

Knowing to be in Town for a few hours last week, I saw the lovely picture by Leighton you have so kindly given me as a souvenir of poor Ferdy. I am most grateful to you & shall always value it greatly for his sake. I have also thanks for the small bronze fountain which has been successfully put up in the kitchen garden. It may interest you to hear that I have begun the alterations in the small garden near the Dairy which Ferdy suggested & planned & the trees have arrived safely from Waddesdon.

Trusting that these lines will find you well.

Believe me,

Very sincerely yours

Albert Edward
