Papers relating to the history of the Evelina Hospital which was founded by Baron Ferdinand following the death of his wife and unborn son in 1866. Ferdinand asked Evelina's obstetrician, Dr Arthur Farre to plan the hospital. It was opened in 1869 in Southwark Bridge Road. In 1947 the Evelina merged with Guy's Hospital and in 1976 the original site was closed and it moved to Guy's Tower.

Files include list - made in 1993 - of Archives of the hospital now held by the London Metropolitan Archives. Booklet by HE Priestley 'The story of a London CHildren's Hospital 1869 - 1969. Some references to staff who worked at the Hospital
