Rose Garden
Miss Alice de Rothschild was passionate about the garden and was always seen with a weeding took when out in the garden. The Rose Garden was planted in 2000 in memory of her achievements. Don't miss the 'Miss Alice' rose, created by David Austin Roses for the occasion.
Looking at its best in ……
June and July – early in summer the rose garden is full of beautiful scent and bright colours.
This year, it will be planted up with lupins, delphiniums, scented lillies and gladioli as well as roses and will be in bloom from summer to autumn.
History of the rose garden
Walk just beyond the Rococo style aviary and find a delightful surprise in the shape of the rose garden. Miss Alice, Baron Ferdinand’s sister has a love of gardening and greatly influenced the garden. In celebration of her passion and work in the garden, the Rose Garden was created.
Beautiful scents
Many of the roses growing here are English Roses; a group of more than 200 varieties bred by the pre-eminent British rose grower David Austin. In 2000, Michael Marriot, Senior Rosarian for David Austin, laid out the roses in the garden in a graceful design.
