Lindengate is named Waddesdon Manor’s charity of the year 2020

Staff and volunteers at Waddesdon have chosen Buckinghamshire-based mental health charity, Lindengate, as its official charity of the year for 2020.

Based on a five-acre site in Wendover, Lindengate offers specialised gardening activities to help those with mental health needs in their continuing recovery. Lindengate’s services, known as Social & Therapeutic Horticulture, use the healing power of nature and the outdoors to improve mental wellbeing, boost self-esteem & social inclusion and encourage long-term recovery.

With 1 in 4 people in the UK experiencing mental health issues each year, the NHS is considering new ways to help those with mental health needs. Lindengate is unique, being the only facility of its type in the Aylesbury Vale. The award-winning charity support over 100 service users a week (known to staff at Lindengate as Gardeners), and are forefront in offering an alternative solution to those with a range of mental health needs.

Simon Wales, Chief Operating Officer at Waddesdon, said ‘I am delighted to announce that Lindengate are Waddesdon’s Charity of the Year 2020. Having already been nominated in previous years by our staff and volunteers, we are very pleased that Lindengate received the most votes this year, and we look forward supporting this very worthwhile charity.’
