The Military Wives Choirs is a charity bringing together around 2,000 women across 72 choirs in the UK and overseas. We welcome all women with a connection to the Armed Forces, including serving personnel, wives, partners, girlfriends, mothers, daughters, sisters and veterans. Through singing, we build friendships, support one another through the challenges of military life and improve our wellbeing. There are no auditions or expectations to be a professional singer – just a shared love of singing, friendship and community. Our choirs provide a supportive network where women can feel connected, particularly during postings and periods of separation from loved ones.

Saturday 14 Nov Ellesborough Silver Band
Founded in 1896, Ellesborough Silver Band has rehearsed in Ellesborough Village Hall for nearly 130 years, only disbanding temporarily during the two world wars. During Neville Chamberlain’s reign as Prime Minister, the band was invited to Chequers to play Christmas Carols. In 1992, the band played in front of Prince Charles and Princess Margaret at the Guttmann Centre in Aylesbury. In the early 1990s the band won several awards, including getting to the National Brass Band Finals at the Albert Hall twice.
Friday 20 Nov Rock Choir
Rock Choir are delighted to be part of the Standing With Giants event and to support this very special occasion. We’re honoured to be able to contribute through music and help remember and pay tribute to the 1,476 lives lost on D-Day. Rock Choir is a fun, friendly community choir with rehearsals across over 400 communities in the UK. Everyone is welcome, and there are no auditions and no need to read music. Our local choir leader, Liga Milune, runs Towcester, Bicester, Banbury and Aylesbury Rock Choirs, and they all love performing together and support various events throughout the year.

Chiltern Music Therapy is delighted to be supporting Standing with Giants at Waddesdon Manor this November with two special musical events. On 27th November, a small group of Chiltern Music Therapy’s team will perform a programme of live music, featuring classical pieces, much-loved songs and traditional music, offering an opportunity to pause, reflect and come together through the power of music.
Saturday 28 Nov Winchendon Brass
Winchendon Brass started playing together regularly as a brass quintet in 2020, when lockdown restrictions and the rule of six made a brass quintet in a garden a perfect musical response. Made up of keen local amateur players from Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, they have enjoyed themselves so much that they continue to perform, whether it be carols, a charity garden party, or in a howling gale at Stoke Mandeville Hospital’s inspirational Horatio’s Garden.
