Immunity from Seizure
Part 6 of the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007 provides immunity from seizure for cultural objects which are loaned from overseas to temporary public exhibitions in approved museums or galleries in the UK where conditions are met when the object enters the UK.
The conditions are:
• the object is usually kept outside the UK
• the object is not owned by a person who is resident in UK
• the import of the object does not contravene any law
• the object is brought into UK for purpose of a temporary public exhibition at an approved museum or gallery
• the museum or gallery has published information about the object

Conditionally Exempt Items
We have items on loan to us which are considered to be of national importance and exempt from capital taxation, provided that some public access is granted to them. We have a rolling programme of temporary loans of objects that fall into this category.

Gold Box Theft
At about 2am on Tuesday 10 June 2003, Waddesdon Manor, experienced a break in and theft.
Over 100 gold boxes and other precious items, mainly 18th century French with some English were stolen. All of the items are unique and immediately identifiable.
We are offering a reward of up to £50,000 (subject to specific conditions) for the safe recovery of these objects and for information that will lead to the arrest of the people concerned.
