Relaxed House Openings

Designed for neurodivergent adults and children and their family, friends or carers, the relaxed house openings offer a calmer visit to the historic house.

British Sign Language Ground Floor Tours

Join experienced deaf guide and historian, John Wilson, for a British Sign Language (BSL) tour of the Manor’s ground floor, exploring the treasures of Waddesdon’s collections.

Free Entry for Carers and Essential Companions

Waddesdon Manor offers free entry for carers or essential companions supporting visitors with disabilities, helping you to enjoy your visit with confidence and ease.

Tickets may be booked on-site or online in advance. You can book your tickets here, and then select the the Essential Companion option

Getting around Waddesdon Manor

Parking

Designated parking for Blue Badge holders and visitors with limited mobility is available in the main visitor car park.

Shuttle bus tickets for Blue Badge holders and their carers are free. All buses are fully accessible, with ramps and dedicated wheelchair spaces, and assistance dogs are welcome.

The shuttle runs from the car park to the North Fountain, returning via the Stables. The House is a short 100m walk from the North Fountain along a flat path, with gravel in front of the house. A mobility buggy is available to transport visitors with accessible needs between the North Fountain and the House entrance.

Mobility

Waddesdon Manor is wheelchair accessible throughout the house and grounds.

Wheelchair access facilities are available across the site, and both indoor and outdoor wheelchairs can be borrowed free of charge. These are offered on a first come, first served basis and cannot be reserved. The ground floor of the house has step-free access. Access to the first floor is via lift, and the second floor via a chair lift – please speak to a member of our team if you need any assistance.

Due to the nature of the site, we have varying terrain throughout the grounds, please be
aware that:

  • The pedestrian path from the Powerhouse to the Stables is steep in places
  • We have steep and uneven paths on the way to the Stables and down to the Dairy
  • Some paths are loose gravel
  • The boardwalk through the woodland playground is steep in places
Accessing the House

To help assist your visit, please read our recommendations and notices for visiting the House:

  • Accompanying carers receive free entry to the house
  • There may be queues to enter the house, please be prepared to stand while waiting
  • There are ramps that enable entry via the main entrance of the House
  • Inside the house there is step-free access on the ground floor
  • Access to the first floor and Wine Cellars is by lift operated by a member of staff
  • The Rothschild Treasury is accessible via a chair lift
  • Some rooms inside the house have low levels of lighting
  • Walking frames are allowed in the house
  • Some walkways through the rooms are quite narrow, so carry chairs and seat sticks are not allowed
Accessible Toilets & Family Facilities

Accessible Toilets and Family Facilites can be found in these locations:

  • On arrival at the Welcome Pavilion in the Visitor Car Park
  • At the House via a tunnel walkway
  • At the Stables courtyard

There are changing facilities located in both the ladies bathroom and the accessible bathroom.

Our Changing Places toilet is accessible through the Manor Shop and Restaurant, and is signposted within the corridor. Please note it is accessible with a RADAR key. If you require this, please ask a member of staff in the Manor Shop.

Assistance Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcomed in the grounds, house, shops, catering outlets and on shuttle buses. Emotional support dogs are welcome in the grounds and the Stables Cafe, but are not permitted in any other building.

Hearing Loops

Hearing loops are installed at the Welcome Pavilion, Manor Stop, Coffee Bar and The Stables.
