MANOR
RESTAURANT

Waddesdon’s rich history and beautiful surroundings inspire the menu at the Manor Restaurant. Our food philosophy is simple yet meaningful: local, creative, fresh.

Every dish is carefully crafted by our chefs, using the finest seasonal ingredients. Much of this produce comes from Eythrope Gardens, just three miles from Waddesdon Manor. Originally designed by Alice de Rothschild in the late 19th century and meticulously restored by the late Lord and Lady Rothschild, these gardens continue to supply fresh flowers and produce to the Manor Restaurant, ensuring each flavour reflects the estate’s heritage. These gardens are open to the public through guided tours.

The Manor Restaurant was once the bustling Kitchen and Servants’ Hall of Waddesdon Manor. Many of the original fixtures and fittings of the Kitchen remain in the Manor Restaurant including the gas lights, serving hatch, and wooden dresser lined with copper pans and utensils (batterie de cuisine).

Footmen would have taken dishes from the hatch up the steps into the main house via the warming cupboards in the Servery to the Dining Room. In Baron Ferdinand’s day, the Manor was used for weekend house parties in the summer, for up to 40 people.

Today, all profits help care for Waddesdon Manor and, through the Rothschild Foundation, fund work in the arts, local communities and the environment.
