£23.95 More info & buy This is an inky and incredibly intense Malbec, characters which are evident on both the palate and nose. After aeration the nose reveals notes of blackberry liqueur, roasted coffee, vanilla, crushed flowers and minerals. The tannins are sweet yet fairly prominent, so it is advised that you give this wine an hour or two in a decanter and serve with a protein rich dish. The fruit on the palate is incredibly dense and concentrated with a tar-like edge. This is serious Malbec that demands your attention, and one that should grace the dinner table - certainly not the lunch table! -

Fonseca Crusted Port, bottled in 2015, Oporto Portugal

During this period the sediment, which is always unfiltered, forms a crust in the bottle. Therefore giving you a "vintage character" without a vintage price tag. The complexity and layers of flavours are truly stunning. The rich characters of sweet blueberry and raisin are followed by subtle eucalyptus notes and a marzipan finish. Due to the youthfulness of this Port, decanting will indeed help develop flavours, but it is not vital as a 'crust' has yet to form. -

£95.00 More info & buy The 1985 vintage was a terrific vintage for Fonseca and it is currently in the stage of showing generous ripe fruit and lovely tertiary spice and earthy maturity. The reveals roasted plums, caramel hazelnuts, cinnamon, rich fruitcake and leathery spice. In the mouth it's rich and palate-coating, yet graceful and almost restrained. This wonderful port will march on for another decade with ease. Careful decanting is advised. -

£15.95 More info & buy This wine has wonderful intensity, sweet concentrated black cherry, menthol and black pepper. Full bodied and rich. The tannins are beautifully extracted and despite being quite grippy there is an avalanche of juicy black fruit that holds the tannin very well. The power and intensity of this wine dictates that it is best after an hour in a decanter and served with a hearty dish. -

£16.95 More info & buy The nose is so complex with notes of ripe pineapple, peach, toasty vanilla and mango. The palate is dry with great acidity and a wonderful texture. The oak is present on the palate, but it is beautifully balanced against the fruit. This is a wonderful wine and has good ageing potential too. -

The nose, after a few minutes in the glass, boasts black cherry jam, dark chocolate, violets, blueberry compote, vanilla, liquorice, coconut and smoky prune. The complexity on the nose follows through to the palate. The texture is rich, the intensity almost inky. It’s fully evolved and drinking like a dream. Don’t get me wrong, if you like a delicate understated wine this is not for you. However, for all those that like a wine with clout Emetior 2004 cannot be overlooked! This vintage will hold for a few years, but why wait when its drinking so well. -
