Tasting notes
The nose is complex yet surprisingly delicate for such a full-bodied wine, a harmony of forest berries, vanilla, leather and spice. On the palate, the wine is fresh and crisp with well structured tannins, intense fruit flavours including blackberry, blackcurrant and redcurrant, vanilla and an earthy minerality, punctuated with black pepper. There’s an almost perfect balance between acidity and tannins which gives Cayas a surprisingly crisp and harmonious finish for a Syrah – this is THE example of an oaked cool climate Syrah. Purity off the scale!
