Penfolds Shiraz Bin 28 2019, South Australia
£33.50 – £180.90
Kalimna Bin 28 offers a showcase of warm climate Australian shiraz – ripe, robust and generously flavoured. First made in 1959, Bin 28 is named after the famous Barossa Valley Kalimna vineyard purchased by Penfolds in 1945 and from which the wine was originally sourced. Today, Kalimna Bin 28 is a multi-region, multi-vineyard blend, with the Barossa Valley always well represented.
Tasting notes
Plummy fruits meshed with cinnamon and almond. Medium-bodied with raspberry chocolate flavours with a sprinkling of spice and cola. Fleshy, and an rich texture with a bulbous/expansive palate profile. Gentle oak and no obtrusive flavours to speak of … yet all the benefits of a calm maturation in seasoned hogsheads. The acidity is in tune with the wine’s weight and structure. Great stuff!

Penfolds Bin 311 Chardonnay 2020, South Australia
£30.00 – £162.00 Buy A burst of lemon blossom and white spring flowers is followed by lemon pith and other citrus enticement. Scents of cashew, pistachio-embedded nougat with a persistent citrus line framed by white stone fruit. Again, a lovely linearity evident all balanced by mouth-watering acidity with a subtle, nutty edge. Whist this acidity is quite pronounced the French oak underpins everything beautifully. This displays very clever winemaking and brings together the three sources of fruit incredibly well.
