Ox Hardy Chardonnay 2021, Adelaide Hills, Australia
£23.00 – £124.20
Over 36 years, Andrew ‘Ox’ Hardy has built one of the most encompassing and exploratory résumes in Australian winemaking. Initially starting his winemaking career with Petaluma in 1982, Ox left to
spread his wings in 1996 before returning in 2004 as Chief Winemaker. In 2018, Andrew left the brand to begin Ox Hardy Wines in proper. As one of Andrew’s favourite varieties, this first release of the Ox Hardy Chardonnay is a clear statement of regional experience, understanding and intent. The fruit was selectively machine picked in late March, the juice then fermented in older French oak barriques and hogsheads, and 20% in stainless steel. The finished wine spent 10 months total in barrel before blending and bottling in early April 2022.
Tasting notes
Beautiful straw colour, this Chardonnay is bursting with nectarines, yellow peach, grapefruit with a hint of hazelnut and flint. Beautifully integrated oak, the majority of which is second use, offers a slight spice and a fuller body.

Baroness Nadine 2023, Western Cape, South Africa
£26.95 – £145.50 Buy This vintage offers ripe tropical fruits, fresh citrus notes, roasted hazelnut, macadamia, and citrus blossom . This is a wonderful wine with a core of ripe tropical fruit all held together by a luxurious yet well- judged streak of rich oak. Baroness Nadine is crafted in a different style compared to a few years back - the style is much more in keeping with fashion, and subsequently the use of new French oak has been toned down. Baroness Nadine 2022 is considered the best vintage produced at Rupert and Rothschild Vignerons, balancing racy acidity and creamy well balanced oak. -

Penfolds Bin 311 Chardonnay 2020, South Australia
£30.00 – £162.00 Buy A burst of lemon blossom and white spring flowers is followed by lemon pith and other citrus enticement. Scents of cashew, pistachio-embedded nougat with a persistent citrus line framed by white stone fruit. Again, a lovely linearity evident all balanced by mouth-watering acidity with a subtle, nutty edge. Whist this acidity is quite pronounced the French oak underpins everything beautifully. This displays very clever winemaking and brings together the three sources of fruit incredibly well. -
