Maison Roche de Bellene Santenay La Comme Premier Cru 2022, A.C. Santenay 1er Cru, France
£40.00 – £216.00
The city of Beaune, once called Bellene until the middle ages, is renowned for its Burgundian wines. Nicholas Potel personally chose this brand name in reference to this city, historically linked with wine and famous for its diversity of terroirs. It was founded in 2008 after establishing Domaine de Bellene. Potel has travelled the world in pursuit of learning as many techniques and skills as possible, so that he could, one day, apply them on his home turf. La Comme is a large Premier Cru vineyard within the Santenay appellation at the very southern end of the Côte d’Or escarpment. La Comme’s gentle slope gives it an excellent position to benefit from the morning sun, lending ripeness and richness to the wines.
Tasting notes
La Comme’s gentle slope gives it an excellent position to benefit from the morning sun, lending ripeness and richness to the wines. The 2022 vintage was outstanding across the board, wines with plenty of complexity and richness, yet they have managed to retain freshness and elegance. Expect notes of red fruits including cherry, redcurrant, oak, leather and spices throughout the experience.
