Loxwood Meadworks Sussex Sunset, English Honey Wine, Sussex, England
£23.50 – £126.90
Founder, Danny Bacon, was selling mead for The Loxwood Joust (a medieval festival he runs). Seeing how much people loved it, he thought “Why does no one drink mead anymore? Surely we can bring it back, but in a modern way”… and therefore created Loxwood Meadworks. Each wine is made using 100% local honey in the ferment (the process that makes the alcohol). It’s fermented dry, and then back-sweetened with honey, to give the most natural flavour and a delicate sweetness. Sussex Sunset, an innovative dry honey wine, deepened by oak fermentation.

Carmes de Rieussec 2019, A.C. Sauternes, France
£40.00 – £216.00 Buy Beautiful sparkling gold colour. The nose is already surprisingly subtle. The barrel-ageing is still present but blends perfectly with notes of apricot and candied melon. The attack is light, but the wine then develops volume and gradually fills the entire palate. The wine has not been affected by the often excessively high summer temperatures. The finish is long and well-defined.
