Los Vascos Cromas Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, Colchagua, Chile
£20.00 – £108.00
Domaines Barons de Rothschild acquired ViƱa Los Vascos in 1988, animated by a pioneering spirit and with the vision to reveal the potential of this exceptional land. Today they cultivate a common dream and project: to turn the expansive vineyard of Los Vascos into a rich ecosystem producing the most elegant Chilean wines possible. The Cromas range is a new release from Los Vascos and will essentially replace the Grande Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere. This new range represents a slightly richer and juicer style, compared to the restrained and elegant style that is a common trait in the wines of DBR Lafite. This Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in French oak for 12 months which provides a beautiful richness of texture and subtle spice.
Tasting notes
This wine has an attractive shimmering ruby colour. The nose is fairly pronounced and showy, which is unusual for Los Vascos. Initially there’s fresh strawberry, blackberry, red cherry and violets. After thirty minutes of aeration spicy notes join the party with black pepper, bay leaf, cumin, tobacco and graphite. The palate is generous and rich with soft juicy tannins and a long lingering finish.
