Rare, Unusual and Award Winning Case
£129.70More info & buy This case contains two limited edition wines from Apaltagua; a single vineyard Pinot Noir from the cool San Antonio Valley, and Carignan blend from 100 year old vines from the sun soaked Maule valley. Each of these wines are hand numbered, and total production doesn't exceed 6,000 bottles - which in wine terms is absolutely minute! Sticking with the limited edition theme, we can proudly introduce the rare Rioja Vega Tempranillo Bianco - this is a genetic mutation of the red skinned Tempranillo that offers an incredible nose of almond, toast, vanilla, cashew and buttery pears. There's also representation from the vastly underappreciated Timorasso grape, which offers a wonderful weighty palate with waxy stone fruit, lime zest and hazelnut, from Piedmont in Italy. Moving on to South Africa, we have the limited edition Integer Cabernet Sauvignon, of which only 6 barrels of this juicy, intense and smoky Cabernet are produced annually. It makes sense to finish with something classical, so conclude a fantastic day with a glass of Chateau d'Agassac 2000 - a wonderfully developed claret that boasts earthy cassis, cedar, truffles and forest floor. The a palate is elegant and the tannins fully resolved. for more detail please see the links below Apaltagua Colección Limited Edition Carignan 2015, Maule Valley, Chile Apaltagua Colección Limited Edition Pinot Noir 2013, San Antonio, Chile Rioja Vega Tempranillo Blanco 2015, D.O. Chateau Clarke 2005, A.C. Listrac Medoc£39.95 More info & buy The 2005 vintage in Bordeaux will go down in history for its superlative quality. Chateau Clarke, like many Chateaux, performed well in 2005 and this vintage is still youthful in many respects. Chateau Clarke 2005 possesses a rich nose of black cherry, iron filings, earthy spice, coffee, toasted vanilla, and cigar box. The palate is weighty and rich with a classic tannic structure and vibrant acidity. It is strongly advised that this vintage is served with a dish rich in protein, and that it has been decanted for at least three hours. Drink now to 2020.
Baron Henri 2013, A.C Médoc£22.95 More info & buy Baron Henri 2013 offers cassis, toasty spice, blackberry and a touch of smoke. The palate is firm and classically styled, with well-structured tannins, lightly styled fruit and subtle spice. This wine needs half an hour in a decanter to reveal its full character. Baron Henri delivers a lighter style of claret with crunchy red fruit that can be enjoyed without food.
Pauillac Special Reserve 2015, A.C. Pauillac£32.95 More info & buy The vintage balances the intensity of Cabernet sauvignon and juiciness of merlot quite brilliantly. The nose starts with spicy red fruit, then after a few minutes in the the glass layers spicy oak, cassis and vanilla emerge. All the aromas follow on from the nose to palate with charming bright fruit, ripe and approachable tannins and a spicy finish. The purity and poise, characters typical of the 2015 vintage, are evident on the nose and palate. Typical of the vintage and very 'Lafite' in style!
