Domaine Matray Juliénas Beaujolais Vieilles Vignes 2022, A.C. Beaujolais, France
£25.00 – £135.00
From a winemaking family spanning 5 generations, Lilian Matray, his wife Sandrine and his daughter Célia work the family estate. The estate buildings are in Juliénas, a charming little Beaujolais village, while the estate’s vines grow on 11 hectares of slopes that are not only in the Juliénas appellation area. The variety of the soils give the very typical, fruity Beaujolais aromas and flavours of each specific appellation. Juliénas “Vieilles Vignes” is a cuvée from a plot of Juliénas planted in 1939. This cuvée offers a full-bodied, silky and balanced wine with aromas of black fruits. Ageing in oak barrels brings a beautiful aromatic complexity.
Tasting notes
One of the most intense and rich Beaujolais’ we have ever tasted! Deep ruby red with granite tinges, it has a nose of vanilla, spice and raspberries. Supple and well balanced, this is a powerful wine which will keep for many years to come.
