Emma M. Louise Châteauneuf du Pape ‘Les Terrasses des Galets’ 2018, A.C. Châteauneuf du Pape, France
£35.00 – £189.00
The vineyard responsible for the fruit that creates this lovely wine is situated around the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, composed of parcels spread over two of the best areas of the appellation with clay and pebbles and shattered limestone soils. The vines have an average age of 35 years with an elevation of 100m, which paired with the local wind ‘The Mistral’, tempers the warmth of the region and brings an exceptional microclimate to the land. Its south facing position is ideal for perfect maturation of the berries.
Tasting notes
Classical yet modern. Bags of smoky spice, cured meat, black pepper, violets and cherry notes fill the glass. There’s fabulous intensity on the palate with layers of ripe smoky fruit and toasted spice. Supple tannins and low acidity give the wine a really approachable feel. Decant this wine for an hour and enjoy with a gutsy protein based dish.

Château d’Aussières 2016, A.C Corbières, France
£38.00 – £205.20 Buy A deep almost opaque ruby in the glass. Then on the nose there's the warm Mediterranean influence providing garrigue herbs, smoky black fruit, freshly crushed black peppercorns, pine sap and eucalyptus. The palate has bags of black fruits and a spicy smoky finish. There's nothing angular or abrasive at all, the finish is silky and rich with good length and lovely freshness which is typical of the vintage.
