Château d’Aussières 2014, A.C Corbières
£27.95 More info & buy A deep almost opaque ruby in the glass. Then on the nose there's the warm Mediterranean influence providing garrigue herbs, smoky black fruit, freshly crushed black peppercorns, pine sap and eucalyptus. The palate has bags of black fruits and a spicy smoky finish. There's nothing angular or abrasive at all, the finish is silky and rich with good length and lovely freshness which is typical of the vintage. -

Rare, unusual, and award winning case
£129.95£99.95 More info & buy This case contains two limited edition wines from Apaltagua; a white Rhone blend from the cool San Antonio valley, and a single vineyard Carignan from 100 year old vines from the sun soaked Maule valley. There's also representation from the vastly underappreciated Timorasso grape, which offers a wonderful weighty palate with waxy stone fruit, lime zest and hazelnut, from Piedmont in Italy. The incredibly rare Tenacity from South Africa offers the most interesting Riesling experience you are likely to have. Tenacity Riesling has been aged in new French oak which offers toasty spicy notes alongside the piercingly aromatic and zippy character of Riesling. Staying in South Africa, we have the limited edition Integer Cabernet Sauvignon, of which only 6 barrels of this juicy, intense and smoky Cabernet were ever produced. Then finally we have included an old vine Grenache from McLaren Vale which offers layers of smoky, meaty characters with a core of black raspberry and kirsch. Vieux Telegraphe ‘La Crau’ 2006, A.C. Châteauneuf-du-Pape
£49.50 More info & buy On the nose there's beautifully warm and rich fruit laced with spice and earthy notes. After aeration, a core of black cherry appears with peripheral notes of dried leather, dark chocolate, and strawberry. The palate, as one would expect with quality CNP, delivers abundant rich black fruit, with plenty of spice and silky tannin. This vintage possesses plenty of power and weight, and although accessible now, it does certainly have the quality to warrant further cellaring. Treat this wine correctly; decant for two hours, serve with a rich venison dish, and you will be thoroughly rewarded.
