Beaulieu Vineyards Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2016, Napa Valley, USA
£50.00 – £270.00
Created in 1900, Beaulieu Vineyards have become one of Napa Valley’s most sought after names. When André Tchelistcheff joined Beaulieu Vineyard in 1938, he tasted the de Latour family’s private wine – what they called “Private Reserve” – from the 1936 vintage. This Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine was so distinctive that Tchelistcheff insisted it be bottled and sold as the winery’s flagship offering. In 1940, Beaulieu Vineyard released the first vintage of Private Reserve and named it in our founder’s honor. This is their Cabernet expression from Rutherford, renowned for it’s unique soil composition known as Rutherford Dust!
Tasting notes
This Cabernet Sauvignon is truly exemplary of what Rutherford Dust can present, offering beautiful notes of cassis, blackberry, and forest floor on the nose with subtle hints of allspice and wild sage. The wine unfolds with plentiful layers of coco powder, tobacco, cigar box, berry compote, and espresso. The tannins are structured yet elegant, providing great weight and roundness with a line of bright acidity making this an age-worthy wine.
