The nose is beautifully complex with notes of plums, cherries and liquorice with spicy undertones of nutmeg, cinnamon and white pepper. On the palate, the wine shows a good volume and structure with nice mature tannins balanced by a good concentration. The finish is layered and intense with a lovely balance of fruit and spice. This magnum format will allow the wine to age gracefully for many years to come.

  £20.00 – £108.00 Buy This wine has an attractive shimmering ruby colour. The nose is fairly pronounced and showy, which is unusual for Los Vascos. Initially there's fresh strawberry, blackberry, red cherry and violets. After thirty minutes of aeration spicy notes join the party with black pepper, bay leaf, cumin, tobacco and graphite. The palate is generous and rich with soft juicy tannins and a long lingering finish.

  £45.00 – £243.00 Buy Developed and mature with notes of tobacco, cigar box, cedar, violets, blackberry, toast and cassis. The palate is much riper and richer than you may expect given the format. This is a juicy Medoc with layers of suave black fruit and earthy spice. Great stuff from DBR Lafite! A well priced magnum of claret from one of the very best producers, what's not to love about that?

  £23.00 – £124.20 Buy The vintage is dominated by Malbec due to the intense heat of the vintage. The nose is rich and sweet-edged with notes of blueberry, cassis, red cherry and figs with hints of dark chocolate. The palate is lusciously textured with a long fruit-filled finish. After a few years in the bottle this beautiful wine has shed it's youthful verve, leaving an accomplished elegant feel and an altogether better sense of balance and maturity.  It's hard to think of a more impressive bottle of Malbec at £23.00

  £19.50 – £105.30 Buy The vineyard of Paradis Casseuil is planted with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the classic pairing you find in almost all red Bordeaux blends. The Merlot brings juicy red fruit and the Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure and body. On the nose there's delicate toasted notes with peppery red cherry and almonds. The palate is elegant and medium bodied with redcurrants, red cherry, cedar and spice. This easily accessible claret is perfect for drinking this year, but will hold in the cellar for a couple of years. Enjoy with roast chicken.

  £15.00 – £81.00 Buy Bright, lively, ruby red colour. Intense, complex nose characterised by fruity notes of cherries, strawberries and plums, harmoniously blended with scents of clove and nutmeg. Medium bodied on the palate with fresh, soft, persistent tannins, combined with a pleasant acidity, producing an easy-to-drink wine, to share on special occasions or enjoy on a daily basis. Despite, in essence, this being the entry-level wine of the property, there's nothing thin or dilute about it. This is an incredibly reliable wine that offers great pleasure at £15 a bottle.

  £22.50 – £121.50 Buy This vintage exhibits a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, of which 50% is aged in French oak - the rest in stainless steel to retain freshness and purity of fruit. The nose offers an array of black fruit, earthy toasted spice and cedar. There's a freshness and crunch to the palate which will ensure this wine cellars well. However, a quick decant enables the silky plush edge to come through which allows for immediate pleasure.

  £45.00 – £243.00 Buy Deep purple robe with black hints. The nose is complex and layered, the bouquet will further develop with decanting. A swirling of the glass will reveal notes of toasted oak, spices and pencil lead delicately woven together. Assertive on the palate, this full-bodied wine shows great persistence and rich flavours. This wine will benefit from further cellaring, yet it shows well after a couple of hours in a decanter.

  Reserve Speciale Pauillac 2021, A.C. Pauillac, France

  £45.00 – £243.00 Buy DBR Lafite have produced a rich yet precise Pauillac, similar in style to the 1990 vintage. Lafite rarely does exuberance, true to form the aroma needs coaxing from the glass. After a few minutes there's cool blackberry coulis, warm slate, fresh tobacco, cedar, violets and graphite. The palate is compact and concentrated with fine tannins. You can feel the quality, but it is slightly reserved in the mid-palate. Whilst it offers very enjoyable drinking you can't help feel its best days lay ahead. It is very 'Lafite' in style and typical of the vintage.

  £95.00 – £510.00 Buy The nose presents aromas of red and black fruit with a degree of maturity that ensures a pleasant freshness. Aged in French oak barrels from the Tonnellerie des Domaines, the wine has superb toasted, coffee and cinnamon notes. Notes of liquorice, dark chocolate, peppermint, and white and black pepper complete the bouquet. On the palate, the wine is intense, with plenty of volume and good structure. Fine, elegant tannins. Pleasant, round finish.
