Lafite Réserve Spéciale Médoc Magnum 2016, A.C. Medoc
£39.95
The Réserve Spéciale range produced by DBR Lafite stylistically reflects the classic appellations and regions of Bordeaux. This Medoc example uses fruit from several prime parcels of land in the Medoc, and is aged in old oak barrels for 12 months prior to bottling. The 2016 vintage is considered a modern day classic thanks to perfect growing conditions, summarised by ideal levels of precipitation and sunshine enabling the grapes to slowly mature on the vine. The wines’ of 2016 carry elegance, balance, freshness and the potential to cellar.

Tasting notes
Developed and mature with notes of tobacco, cigar box, cedar, violets, blackberry, toast and cassis. The palate is much riper and richer than you may expect given the format. This is a juicy Medoc with layers of suave black fruit and earthy spice. Great stuff from DBR Lafite! A well priced magnum of claret from one of the very best producers, what’s not to love about that?

Pauillac Special Reserve 2018, Magnum, A.C. Pauillac
£78.00 Buy The 2018 vintage was generous and the resulting wines are bold and juicy. DBR Lafite have produced a rich yet precise Pauillac, similar in style to 2015 but with more oomph and juiciness. Lafite rarely does exuberance, but this is almost exotic with supple tannins and plush core. After a few minutes there's cool blackberry coulis, inky cassis, blueberry, warm slate, fresh tobacco, cedar, violets and graphite. The palate is open and expressive with layers of juicy cassis and toasty spice. After a few hours this magnum will show very well, but it's best years are yet to come. -
