Chateau Clarke was acquired by Baron Edmond de Rothschild in 1973 and is situated in the appellation of Listrac-Medoc. The vineyard is planted with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vines, which were replanted soon after Baron Edmond acquired the Chateau. Three wines are produced at the estate, the top cuvee – Chateau Clarke, often needs more than five years bottle age to show its full potential.

Le Merle Blanc was initially produced around the middle of the 19th Century and at the time was one the most important products of Chateau Clarke. Sadly production of Le Merle Blanc decreased until the vineyard was dominated by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with no room for white varieties. After acquiring Chateau Clarke In 1973, Baron Edmond was keen to reinstate Le Merle Blanc and pay homage to this forgotten wine. A small part of the vineyard covering just 2ha was identified and planted with Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Muscadelle and Sauvignon Gris.

Ronan by Clinet is in essence the third wine of Chateau Clinet, although the fruit used to produce Ronan is collected from parcels across Bordeaux. This vintage is made solely of Merlot which lends plenty of plush red fruit. This uncomplicated claret offers easy drinking, pop and pour and enjoy over the course of the evening.
