£20.00 – £108.00 Buy This wine has an attractive shimmering ruby colour. The nose is fairly pronounced and showy, which is unusual for Los Vascos. Initially there's fresh strawberry, blackberry, red cherry and violets. After thirty minutes of aeration spicy notes join the party with black pepper, bay leaf, cumin, tobacco and graphite. The palate is generous and rich with soft juicy tannins and a long lingering finish. -

£22.00 – £118.80 Buy This is the first vintage to include Cabernet Franc in the blend, which lifts the texture making for a more elegant wine, although Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon still dominate the assemblage. This is Classique at it’s best and after 16 months in French oak and a few years in the bottle this vintage is singing! A complex and smoky nose starts off with roasted coffee, cassis, black cherry and earthy spice. The palate is medium to full bodied with seamless tannins and just enough acidity to retain freshness. There’s ripeness and richness on the palate, but it’s not overworked or overripe, it’s balanced and very well made. The wines of Rupert and Rothschild seem to get better with every passing vintage, and Classique certainly supports that theory. -

Flechas de Los Andes Gran Malbec 2019, Vista Flores, Argentina
£25.95 – £140.10 Buy This is an inky and incredibly intense Malbec, characters which are evident on both the palate and nose. After aeration the nose reveals notes of blackberry liqueur, roasted coffee, vanilla, crushed flowers and minerals. The tannins are sweet yet fairly prominent, so it is advised that you give this wine an hour or two in a decanter and serve with a protein rich dish. The fruit on the palate is incredibly dense and concentrated. This is serious Malbec that demands your attention, and one that should grace the dinner table due to it's intensity and power. -

Overt and complex on the nose with flowery notes (white flowers) combined with acacia honey and toasted brioche. On the palate, the wine develops a rich aromatic palette of summer fruit (peach, melon, red and black currant) laced with aromas of sour candy. Round and powerful, this wine presents a great balance with a generous mouth feel layered with notes of toasted almonds and hazelnuts and a refreshing backbone. The wine is full with great persistence and hints of butterscotch on the final. -

£95.00 Buy Medium deep colour. Lovely fragrant claret style wine with exuberant fresh red cherry redcurrant, mulberry cassis aromas and roasted walnut complexity. Well concentrated and generous with inky cassis mulberry fruits, smooth velvety tannins, attractive viscosity and richness on the mid-palate and fine integrated acidity. Finishes powdery firm with superb mineral length. A hugely evocative wine; true to the original blueprint, spirit of style and the classic Penfolds multi-regional template. Delicious to drink now but should age beautifully. -

£60.00 – £324.00 Buy This is a big St Emilion with lashings of plump ripe fruit and oak derived spice. Not quite a monster, but certainly a wine fit for a gusty supper rather than a light lunch! Made only in the best vintages this is made solely from Merlot. The nose is fantastic with notes of black cherry compote, toasted vanilla, dark chocolate, black forest gateau and cassis. The palate is generous in every department with oodles of black fruit and soft tannins. This beauty will age for a decade, yet after a couple of hours in a decanter it really shows well.
