Rimapere Pinot Noir 2017, Marlborough NZ
£29.95
Baron Benjamin de Rothschild teamed up with Peabody family of Marlborough in 2009 to discuss a collaborative project to produce a single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc. The site that was identified covers 26 ha comprising of 22 ha of Sauvignon Blanc and just 4 ha of Pinot Noir. This parcel of Pinot yields a matter of hundreds of cases rather than thousands. Exclusive to Waddesdon in the UK, this wonderful aromatic Pinot Noir has recently scooped a Gold medal at the IWC.
Tasting notes
Wonderfully aromatic and developed on the nose with notes of cracked black pepper, red cherry, wood smoke, earthy spice and cranberry. There’s a freshness on the palate which indicates youth, yet this wine is definitely ready to drink but will evolve in the cellar. The palate is elegant and well balanced with a lovely concentration of fruit. This is only the third vintage of Pinot produced at the estate, and most definitely the best to date.
