‘R’ de Rieussec 2022, A.C. Bordeaux, France
£40.00 – £216.00
‘R’ de Rieussec is a dry white wine produced at the Grand Cru estate of Château Rieussec in the appellation of Sauternes, Bordeaux. ‘R’ de Rieussec was originally produced for consumption within the Rothschild family. However, the improving quality of this wine, coupled with fashion dictating a drier style meant that it was thankfully released for the open market. Global warming, and the capricious nature of noble rot (the fungus that creates the luscious wines of Sauternes) have forced producers in Sauternes to focus their attentions on the production of dry wines- and ‘R’ de Rieussec is one of the finest examples of this modern style.
Tasting notes
On the nose, notes of thyme, lemon and green citrus fruit such as kaffir lime with smoky and vanilla undertones and a fresh greener edge. The attack is lively and fresh, with a very mineral, chalky aspect.
The palate is clean and lively, slightly toasted, with a saline finish prolonged by a gentle grapefruit bitterness.

Baroness Nadine 2023, Western Cape, South Africa
£26.95 – £145.50 Buy This vintage offers ripe tropical fruits, fresh citrus notes, roasted hazelnut, macadamia, and citrus blossom . This is a wonderful wine with a core of ripe tropical fruit all held together by a luxurious yet well- judged streak of rich oak. Baroness Nadine is crafted in a different style compared to a few years back - the style is much more in keeping with fashion, and subsequently the use of new French oak has been toned down. Baroness Nadine 2022 is considered the best vintage produced at Rupert and Rothschild Vignerons, balancing racy acidity and creamy well balanced oak.
