This A5 notebook is part of our retail collection inspired by ‘Brought to Life: Eliot Hodgkin Rediscovered’ an exhibition currently showing at Waddesdon. This is the first major exhibition of the artist’s work in nearly thirty years.
This retrospective at Waddesdon brings together the largest ever exhibition of Hodgkin’s paintings and drawings – nearly 100 – many of which have never been seen in public before.

Pompadour Notebook

These portraits were central to Pomadour’s self-presentation, carefully designed to captivate the King. Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson (1721-1764), Marquise de Pompadour, was the acknowledged mistress – ‘maîtresse-en-titre’ – of King Louis XV from 1745 until her death.
