Los Vascos Cromas Gran Reserva Chardonnay 2022, Colchagua, Chile
£20.00 – £108.00
Domaines Barons de Rothschild acquired ViƱa Los Vascos in 1988, animated by a pioneering spirit and with the vision to reveal the potential of this exceptional land. Today they cultivate a common dream and project: to turn the expansive vineyard of Los Vascos into a rich ecosystem producing the most elegant Chilean wines possible. The Cromas range is a new release from Los Vascos and is made in a richer more exotic style compared to past vintages. This wine is the latest addition to the Cromas range and the 2022 is the first vintage. Made with 100% Chardonnay, it was aged and vinified in both stainless steel tanks and oak barrels to ensure an impeccable balance between rich, oaky flavours and a lovely core of tropical fruit.
Tasting notes
A fantastic first vintage from the team at Los Vascos. The nose is seductive with aromas of lime, pineapple, green banana and white peach, combined with aromas of dried fruits coming from the barrels that contribute to the complexity. On the palate, the wine is vibrant and concentrated with a nice creamy mouthfeel leading to an elegant finish. This is a big white that gives you so much, yet it never overstays its welcome. Delicious!

The palate is precise and exacting, with pinpoint freshness yet has some fun with the richness of the buttered orchard fruit that comes through. -

Penfolds Bin 311 Chardonnay 2020, South Australia
£30.00 – £162.00 Buy A burst of lemon blossom and white spring flowers is followed by lemon pith and other citrus enticement. Scents of cashew, pistachio-embedded nougat with a persistent citrus line framed by white stone fruit. Again, a lovely linearity evident all balanced by mouth-watering acidity with a subtle, nutty edge. Whist this acidity is quite pronounced the French oak underpins everything beautifully. This displays very clever winemaking and brings together the three sources of fruit incredibly well.
