Chardonnay by Rothschild Waddesdon, IGP pays d’Oc 2020

This brand new range of varietal wines, selected by our team at Waddesdon, represents the finest quality ‘house wines’ we have ever released. This collection of wines will replace the long-standing Baron Philippe d’Oc range – and offers an impressive level of purity, definition and varietal expression that is rarely associated with this category and price point. After a series of blind tastings our Rothschild Waddesdon range performed exceptionally, and we are incredibly proud to call these wines our own. We hope you have as much fun tasting them as we did selecting them.

Tasting notes

Harvested at night to preserve the integrity of the grape skin and help retain natural purity of aroma. This beautiful Chardonnay derives from the coolest vineyards in the Languedoc close to the border of étang de Thau. The freshness and energy of this Chardonnay is exceptional. The winemakers have introduced a very small amount of oak interaction, with 15% of the wine being aged in French oak; this helps to add texture and creaminess to the energetic core. Quince, honey, peach and ginger make up a pretty nose that is followed by an elegant rounded palate.
