Akarua The Siren Pinot Noir 2019, Central Otago, New Zealand
£70.00 – £378.00
10 years after the founding of Rimapere in the Marlborough Valley, the country’s leading wine region, Edmond de Rothschild Heritage purchased 34.5 of the best hectares in Akarua, a historic and pioneering vineyard in Central Otago. The vast majority of these 34.5 hectares are in Cairnmuir, ideally placed given its reputation as the holy grail of Bannockburn. Nestled in the foothills of the mountains and amid breathtaking scenery, the land here offers rare balanced conditions which are suited to producing very fine Pinot Noir. This is the top expression from the estate.
Tasting notes
The Siren is a powerful and complex wine, floral and spicy, with resonant dark-berry notes. One of the most intense and enticing Pinots we have tasted. Lashes of dark forest fruits, cedar and Morello cherries are carried by velvet tannins onto the palate, and will linger on for some time. Outstanding juice!

Domaine Machard de Gramont ‘Le Chapitre’ 2022, A.C. Bourgogne, France
£30.00 – £162.00 Buy Bold and very 2022 in style. This is a modern Burgundy Pinot from a warm vintage. There's not a huge amount of that gamey earthy Pinot quality you get from mature Burgundy at present, this is currently all about smoky black fruit and bags of toasted spice. On the nose there's black cherry, smoky oak, toasted black pepper, hedgerow and redcurrant. The palate is juicy and rich with a generous core of red fruit and peppery spice. Drink now or cellar for eight years. -

Subtle notes of cedar, mocha, and dried herbs add complexity. The palate is medium-bodied, displaying remarkable balance and silky tannins. Fresh red fruit flavors are interwoven with savory undertones of earth, minerality, and a delicate whisper of oak. A vibrant acidity provides energy and lifts the wine, leading to a long, graceful finish marked by echoes of red fruit and spice. -

Cave Jean Rene Germanier Clos de la Couta Pinot Noir 2020, Valais, Switzerland

The mouth is characterized by its freshness and finesse. The attack is lively and supple. The wine continues with same pronounced intensity of fruit and spice as the nose with an elegant balance between fruit and acidity culminating in a long and lingering finish.
