£130.00 Buy 2018 was a return to form for many estates across Bordeaux after the challenging 2017 vintage. Deep colour with a crimson hue. The ample and succulent nose opens on aromas of fresh berries such as blackcurrant, together with notes of violet. Spice and liquorice notes appear with airing, recalling the ripeness of the grapes, offset by touches of mint. The dense and opulent attack leads into a fresh and smooth mid-palate underpinned by generous, silky tannins, revealing pepper and dark chocolate notes that leave an overall impression of succulence and harmony. -

Overt and complex on the nose with flowery notes (white flowers) combined with acacia honey and toasted brioche. On the palate, the wine develops a rich aromatic palette of summer fruit (peach, melon, red and black currant) laced with aromas of sour candy. Round and powerful, this wine presents a great balance with a generous mouth feel layered with notes of toasted almonds and hazelnuts and a refreshing backbone. The wine is full with great persistence and hints of butterscotch on the final. -

The nose screams left bank Bordeaux; cassis, leather, cedar, brambly red fruit and toasted oak with menthol and cigar box. The palate is loaded with warm vintage fruit, supple tannins and great intensity. Great to drink now, but will evolve well in a cool cellar. -

The palate feels compact and the wine has such confidence. After a few hours in a decanter this vintage feels so complete. Almaviva 2016, Puento Alto Chile
£185.00 Buy Deep ruby in colour. The nose produces incredibly complex notes, varying from raspberry, blackberry, bilberry, toffee, chocolate, smoke, cedar wood, vanilla cracked pepper spice. These notes lead onto the palate, with exceptionally silky mouth-feel coming from the tannins and will only soften more over time. The concentration of the fruit means the length of the wine after the first sip lingers on and on and on. Exceptional! -

The nose is rich and sweet-edged with notes of blueberry, cassis, red cherry and figs with hints of dark chocolate. The palate is lusciously textured with a long fruit-filled finish. After a few years in the bottle this beautiful wine has shed it's youthful verve, leaving an accomplished elegant feel and an altogether better sense of balance and maturity. It's hard to think of a more impressive bottle of Malbec at £23.00 -

Buy In the glass the wine is deep ruby, expressing notes of blackcurrant, cracked pepper, strawberries, smoke, vanilla and almond. On the palate the wine is punchy with concentrated yet refined silky tannins. The oak maturation adds depth and weight to the palate, whilst elevating the level of spice. Escudo Origine represents the finest offering Escudo Rojo produce and will develop nicely in the bottle for a good few years.
