This is Classique at it’s best and after 16 months in French oak and a few years in the bottle this vintage is singing! A complex and smoky nose starts off with roasted coffee, cassis, black cherry and earthy spice. The palate is medium to full bodied with seamless tannins and just enough acidity to retain freshness. There’s ripeness and richness on the palate, but it’s not overworked or overripe, it’s balanced and very well made. The wines of Rupert and Rothschild seem to get better with every passing vintage, and Classique certainly supports that theory. -

It grabs your interest right from the moment it hits the glass; the colour is a rich golden yellow. The nose starts off with savoury notes then evolves towards jasmine, tea leaf, cedar, thyme and flowers. After some oxygen the fruit comes through in the form of buttery pear, apricot and fig. The palate has great weight and body, but it isn't overbearing, there's just the right amount of acidity to sharpen things up. After the fruit fades you'll find a touch of minerality and salinity on the finish. Take a bow the folks from Attems. This is great stuff! -
