Barons de Rothschild Champagne Concordia Brut, A.C. Champagne, France
£70.00 – £378.00
Champagne Barons de Rothschild; a Champagne House that is owned and managed by all three branches of the Rothschild family; Domaine Barons de Rothschild, Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Baron Edmond de Rothschild. This Champagne venture marks the family’s first collaborative project. The ethos in which Barons de Rothschild operates involves a rich expression of Chardonnay, a high percentage of Grand & Premier Cru vineyards and a long period of ageing prior to release. These three elements help shape the character of this truly stunning Champagne.
Tasting notes
Bright, clear, pale gold tints woven with very fine bubbles that carry energy and persistence. The freshness of the Chardonnay, boasting aromas of white flesh fruit such as pears and nectarines, ethereal touches of peony expressed by the Pinot Noir all held together with a streak of hazelnut and brioche. On the second nose aromas of dried apricots and almonds appear. There’s a weight and generosity underpinned by crisp nectarine, notes of honey, saffron and pepper which are nicely offset by a subtle bitterness on the finish.
