Spotlight on: A Masterpiece of Dutch Silver
Thur 17 Sep 2020
One of the treasures of the Smoking Room is a 17th-century silver-gilt cup by one of the most sophisticated and unusual goldsmiths of his day, Christian Van Vianen, who was lured to London to work by King Charles I.
The cup is at Waddesdon thanks to Miss Alice, who must have admired its strange beauty. Join Head of Collections Pippa Shirley to explore the history of the cup, and its journey to a Rothschild collection.
Meet at the Main Door.
Please note: The tour finishes and the House closes at 4pm. We recommend you book your House timed tickets for 2pm or earlier in order to see other rooms in the House before this talk.
