Wonderful Winter Whites
If red wine just isn’t your thing, but you still want wines with character and individuality then look no further. These three white wines have impressed us immensely with their exuberant character and definition. The 2018 vintage of Le Merle blanc is multilayered and simply gorgeous. Baroness Nadine is creamy and rich with a nutty finish. Then you have the limited edition Coleccion Blanc, exclusive to Waddesdon, and absolutely wonderful – it has a bit of everything in the glass. It’s fat, weighty, yet clean and refreshing with layers of honeyed fruit. Fully deserving of its gold Medal in Paris! But whatever you do don’t over-chill it. Serve cool, decant, and let its character shine through.
Coleccion Blanc 2018 – Only 2,150 bottles of this limited edition blend were produced offering a dazzlingly nose of lime blossom, apricots, honeyed peach, mineral notes and cream. The texture on the palate is tremendous; rich and weighty with piercing acidity that cleans the palate beautifully. A gold medal winner in Paris this year too!
Le Merle Blanc 2018 – citrus peel and jasmine lead to lemongrass and slightly richer creamier notes from the judicious oak interaction. The palate is clean and expressive with freshness and tension balanced by richness of fruit and a delicate toasty savoury note.
Baroness Nadine – Fresh citrus notes, roasted hazelnut, macadamia, charred vanilla, creamy orchard fruit and honeydew melon – a beautifully enticing and complex nose. This is a wonderful wine with a core of ripe fruit all held together by a luxurious yet judicious streak of rich oak.
