Pocas Port 2006 ‘The Coopers Edition’
In 1918, a few months before the Armistice, Manoel Domingues Poças Júnior, who had been born in the heart of the Port Wine hustle and bustle, decided to establish his own company. With his uncle, he created a company to sell grape spirits to large Port Wine shippers. Soon afterwards he opened a head office in Vila Nova de Gaia, where they remain to this day. Today, with three quintas in the best winemaking areas of the Douro Demarcated Region, Poças ensures its total control over the quality of its wines and the family is more involved than ever before. This Coopers edition Colheita is the perfect gift for lovers’ of Port. These two bottles both derive from the 2006 vintage, however they have been matured in different oak vessels providing a signficant variation in style and complexity.

Small Barrel – The higher % of surface area to Port allows for increased levels of barrel influence. Expect to find a more oak driven experience with notes of toasted oak, caramel, ginger, sweet spices and cocoa bean. The palate is silky, balanced and elegant.
Large Barrel – With the barrel being 30 times larger than the small barrel there is much less influence of oak, with more focus on oxidation. This results in a much more concentrated and intense wine, with aromas of tobacco leaf, toffee and a nuttiness that is more evident in this style.
