Petit Caro 2017, Mendoza, Argentina
One of the latest additions to Domaine Barons de Rothschild’s portfolio is Petit Caro. This is the new 2nd wine of the Caro estate (taking over from Amancaya) which is a collaboration between DBR Lafite and Nicolas Catena to showcase their expertise in Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec respectively. This predominantly Malbec based blend is plump, juicy whilst keeping that characteristic Lafite elegance. Petit Caro also includes a dash of Cabernet Franc.
The 2017 vintage is dominated by Malbec due to the intense heat of the vintage. The nose is rich and sweet-edged with notes of blueberry, cassis, red cherry and figs with hints of dark chocolate. The palate is lusciously textured with a long fruit-filled finish.
