Mouton Cadet 2013 offers crunchy red fruits with gentle tannins and nicely judged acidity. Utilising fruit from across Bordeaux, Mouton Cadet has become a benchmark for quality in the affordable Bordeaux bracket. There is no need to decant this wine, just pop and pour. After a few minutes the glass this uncomplicated yet satisfactory claret provides crisp redcurrant fruits and a trace of pepper. This particular vintage of Mouton cadet comes in a branded box.

The finish offers up the charming richness of St Emilion that we has made the appellation so famous. After an hour in a decanter this vintage possesses a silky, elegant character with notes of cherry, plums, tobacco and liquorice. This fruit forward vintage lends itself to a variety of dishes due to its soft juicy texture.

The nose serves up a treat of roasted coffee, mint, blackberry jam, toasted oak, liquorice and violets. All those wonderful complexities leave the nose and re-appear on the palate. It's muscular, and concentrated beyond belief, but supple and somehow approachable. This wine needs a decade to evolve, buts there's a genuine chance this may be one of the finest Mouton's ever made.
