Mouton Cadet Reserve Bordeaux Magnum, A.C. Bordeaux
Mouton Cadet Rouge was first released in 1933 and has grown to be the most successful branded wine of Bordeaux. The range utilises Baron Philippe de Rothschild’s extensive partnership scheme in which technical supervisors work very closely with growers to ensure the best quality grapes are produced. The grapes are then vinified by Baron Philippe’s team at the Saint Laurent Médoc winery in Bordeaux. The reserve Mouton Cadet range was released in the 1990’s using a finer selection of fruit, and represents a more complex and richer claret than the general Mouton Cadet range.

The nose opens with crunchy red fruit and subtle spice. Red cherry and dark plum notes dominate thanks to the generous percentage of Merlot in the blend. The palate is approachable and encompassing, with delicate yet crunchy tannins, juicy acidity and a good finish. These magnums are drinking well now, but will keep for a few years with ease.
