Los Vascos gift box
Vina Los Vascos, situated 200km south of Chile’s capital, was acquired by DBR Lafite in 1988. This diverse estate produces seven wines annually, utilising fruit from all corners of the expansive vineyard. Whether it be their zippy vibrant Rose through to a rich smoky Grand reserve, Los Vascos always delivers complexity, elegance and consistency.
Fresh and clean and very fragrant with great complexity; gooseberry, elderflower, lime, white peach and sage. There is sufficient fruit to balance the acidity and a good concentration of fruit on the finish. This is really fantastic Sauvignon, always consistent and delivers everything you want in a vibrant Sauvignon.
A vibrant ruby in the glass with a pretty nose of cassis, mint, spice and red cherry. The palate is well balanced and fresh with layers of fruit peppered with smoky spice. An incredibly consistent and well-made Cabernet Sauvignon that shows Lafite’s class and elegance.

Los Vascos Grande Reserve 2015, Colchagua, Chile£18.50 More info & buy The colour is an intense ruby, with aromas of black cherry, cassis, vanilla, tobacco, cinnamon, cedar and spices. Later, the nose develops into ripe black fruit such as mulberry and cherry with a note of blackcurrant. In the mouth, it is rich, round and fleshy. The tannins are silky and elegant and the wine has impressive length with a pleasant peppery and liquorice finish.

After a few minutes in the glass a core of ripe and pure fruit takes shape. Think cool blueberry, ripe blackcurrant, and black cherry compote. Then there's a whiff of mint and liquorice. In the mouth its rich and coating with generous ripe fruit and plenty of spice - In fact the 2015 vintage of Los Vascos Le Dix feels altogether spicier and more complex than past vintages with peripheral aromas of saffron, nutmeg and cumin. This vintages shows well after an hour in the decanter - although further cellaring will benefit the wine.
