Los Vascos Carmenère Grande Reserve 2012, Colchagua Valley, Chile
It took nearly three years to develop Los Vascos Carmenère Grande Reserve. Special attention was devoted to the Carmenère variety, which has almost disappeared from its native France but is now a flagship grape in Chile. Aged for a year in French oak, the resulting wine is filled with ripe fruit and spicy aromas.

The palate reveals a lovely array of blueberry, blackberry, chocolate shavings, and exotic spice. There is a hint of smoke, but plenty of ripe generous fruit that is measured, and not overly rich.
