£39.95 £24.95

The Escudo Rojo range, launched in 1999, is the result of an encounter between Chilean terrior and Bordeaux expertise. The range consists of seven wines and covers several valleys in the viticultural heaven that is Chile. Escudo Rojo is flagship wine and is produced using fruit collected from the Maipo valley. The blend comprises of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Carmenère and Cabernet Franc. Escudo Rojo has good ageing potential, and after six years in the magnum this vintage is showing brilliantly.

Tasting notes

The nose is concentrated and pronounced with ripe black fruits, menthol, coffee and a touch of pepper from the Syrah. After aeration, notes of roasted hazelnut, black olive, mocha and a whiff of toasty oak appear, all of which are wrapped around this juicy core of black fruit. Escudo Rojo has been aged in oak barrels for 12 months, and that oak has fully absorbed into the wine providing lovely rich spice and structural support.
