Domaine des Mazelles Touraine Chenonceaux, A.C. Touraine, France (Three Bottle Case)
Domaine des Mazelles was established in the popular wine-making region of Touraine in the Loire valley in the 1930s. This wine comes from that very region albeit from the finest sub region in Touraine, Chenonceaux. The region was established in 2011 as it was decided wines coming from this sub region were extraordinarily exceptional. As is typical in Touraine this is 100% Sauvignon Blanc with close to 90 years experience behind it.
The wine has a pale gold hue with straw hints. On the nose you will have notes of tropical fruit, ripe citrus juice, toasted brioche and dried pineapple. Moving onto the palate experience the rounded texture, the powerful citric notes, a hint of toast and bags of acidity.

‘R’ de Rieussec 2018, Bordeaux Blanc Sec£29.95 More info & buy An almost equal blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon provides a nose of grapefruit and lime peel, then after a few minutes the Sémillon takes the lead role boasting notes of white peach and toasty hazelnut. The palate is bone dry but has a wonderful ripeness of fruit and a creamy mouth filling texture. There's a hint of vanilla and oak spice on the finish which is beautifully balanced. 'R' de Rieussec is still only made in relatively small quantities and expresses the richness of Sauternes without the residual sugar.
