Domaine de Baron ‘Arques 2005, A.C Limoux
Domaine de Baron d’arques is planted with what could seem like an unusual collection of grape varieties; Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc alongside Syrah, Grenache and Malbec. The Château and its adjoining vineyard, located in the appellation of Limoux, were acquired by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild in 1998. Baron d’arques offers ageing potential, and serves up power, intensity and complexity. Think Bordeaux meets Rhone, and you’re somewhere close to understanding this rich, powerful and rustic wine.

A complex and intriguing blend, therefore its not surprising there’s terrific complexity on the nose; coffee, mocha, leather and earthy spice all of which are wrapped around a core of gorgeously ripe cherry and blackberry fruit. The Bordeaux varietals offer structure and defined fruit, whilst the Rhone varietals bring warmth, spice and richness to the blend.
