Rothschild Claret Case
The Rothschild name has been synonymous with the creation of fine claret for over 160 years. The roots of all three branches of the wine producing family are located in Bordeaux. The estates of Ch. Lafite Rothschild, Ch. Mouton Rothschild and Ch. Clarke represent the flagship properties of the three branches of the family. This wonderful mixed case of claret includes representation from all three families and lends an insight into their individual ‘house’ style.

Legende Bordeaux rouge 2017 – a plump contemporary claret with lovely juicy black fruit and sweet spice. Very approachable, rounded and easy to get on with. But as with all Lafite’s wines there’s a sense of class and restraint.
Chateau Clarke 2012 – The nose is gorgeously rich and classical with aromas of cassis, red cherry, leather, cedar, vanilla and cigar box. The palate is soft, and exquisitely supple, leading to a finish that oozes sheer class.
Waddesdon Pauillac 2015 – After an hour in a decanter our Waddesdon Pauillac awakens from its slumber to reveal a nose of cassis, charred vanilla, cedar, black cherry and cedar. There’s evidence of the ripeness this vintage possesses with a plump fruit-forward entry to the palate which is tapered by fine tannins and well balanced acidity

Huaquen Reserva Carmenère 2015, Colchagua Valley Chile
£13.95Buy Intense and rich purple in the glass. On the nose this is unmistakeably Carmenère. Starting with smoky and peppery black fruit, this evolves over drinking into cocoa, coffee, cherry and a kiss of tobacco. The palate is powerful yet refined, with remarkable balance for a wine of this style and price. The tannins are delicately smooth and the finish lingers on the palate.
Escudo Rojo 2011 Magnum (150cl), Maipo Valley Chile
£39.95Buy The nose is concentrated and pronounced with ripe black fruits, menthol, coffee and a touch of pepper from the Syrah. After aeration, notes of roasted hazelnut, black olive, mocha and a whiff of toasty oak appear, all of which are wrapped around this juicy core of black fruit. Escudo Rojo has been aged in oak barrels for 12 months, and that oak has fully absorbed into the wine providing lovely rich spice and structural support.
Wonderful Winter Whites

The palate is clean and expressive with freshness and tension balanced by richness of fruit and a delicate toasty savoury note.
