Château Clarke 2018 Limited Edition Anniversary Magnum
Chateau Clarke was acquired by Baron Edmond de Rothschild in 1973 and is situated in the appellation of Listrac Medoc. The vineyard is planted with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vines, which were replanted soon after Baron Edmond acquired the Chateau. Three wines are produced at the estate, the top cuvee Chateau Clarke has improved hugely in recent vintages with the 2018 scoring 94/100 by Jane Anson. This is a celebratory anniversary magnum of the much revered 2018 vintage. The bottle comes in a smart original wooden branded box with gold etched detailing.

This is extremely classy, deep purple in colour with great tension through the palate and easily one of the best vintages Ch. Clarke has ever produced. The wine opens up wonderfully in the glass with juicy, plush and vibrant black cherry fruit flavours, and tannins that are fine and well balanced. The structural impact of the wine is matched perfectly by the cassis and bilberry fruits. There’s some new oak influence of course, but it pulls the wine together and offers a smoky sweet-edged complexity. This is a modern and classy vintage of Ch. Clarke that will age effortlessly for a few decades in the magnum.
