Tasting notes

Avondale was awarded winner of three top awards at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships including Best South African Sparkling Wine, Best Blanc de Blanc MCC and Best Organic MCC, making them the most successful South African sparkling wine in this competition to date. Impressive stuff on paper, but it’s in the glass where things get exciting. On the nose you’ll find dried pineapple, honey, pistachio, hazelnut, toasted brioche, citrus peel, quince and freshly baked bread.  This complex nose derives from organic viticulture and no less than 60 months on the lees. The palate is creamy with perfect levels of acidity providing a great contrast to the rich toasty fruit. Great stuff again from Mr Grieve and the team at Avondale.
